Getting To Know Marcus Summers…
I am a NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Barbell Rehab Method Specialist (BRM). I hold other certification such as TRX Instructor, Kettle Bell Concepts, and BLS. Currently I am the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach -Head of Basketball S&C and Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at NCAAII Roosevelt University of the (GLIAC) conference in Downtown-Chicago, Illinois. I received my A.S in Nutrition, Fitness, & Health, B.S in Fitness Management, and MBA all from Purdue-Northwest University. There, I was an NAIA Division-I CCAC scholarship basketball player. I served in the US Army from 2002-2008 and completed a one-year deployment to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003). I’ve been in the fitness industry for 15+ years and formerly a Fitness Director for eight years. I am an Exercise Science Professor and teach a wide range of health/fitness courses such as Physiology of Exercise II and Principles of Adult Fitness, Athletic Taping & Bracing, and Introduction to Sports Injury and Treatment . I also serve as a Fitness, Health, & Science Advisory Board Member for Roosevelt University and Malcolm X College in Chicago, Illinois.
My primary focus is to enhance athletic performance, competitive advantages, and decrease risk of injury through various forms of training that incorporate high level resistance, flexibility, mobility, and endurance training.
My training programs are well rounded and can provide tremendous benefits and growth for athletes who are looking to improve their sports performance, as well as for the everyday client who is a former athlete or everyday person who is looking to train like an athlete!
I believe in meeting my clients where they are currently at and provide a strategic plan on how to efficiently and safely improve their overall physical performance and maintain a healthy lifestyle in doing so.
